In a recent article in HomeLife, Deborah Evans Price, interviews Dave Ramsey.  Among his many observations on debt, families, and single parents is an observation regarding the type of economy we are all trying to make it in.

“You cannot win making $18,000 a year.  You have to realize, five years from today I’m going to be making the same amount of money I make now unless I read a book, take a class, get in a program.  I have to have knowledge that I don’t have right now.  You have to be on a heavy personal growth curve to get income up because we’re in a knowledge-based economy, and what you earn is largely based on what you know, not what you do.  So you have to know more.”

Life-long learners will have a more fulfilling life.  Now I’m not one to say that all learning has to pay for itself.  However, if you want to increase your earning capacity or your earning bandwidth you are going to have be a learner.
